The Drought Is Over…

This post is basically to say one thing: Stay Tuned! I have so much good news, Geek experiences, and new exciting projects in the queue, that I could blog every day for a month and I might cover it all. Hardware, software, multimedia, networking, education…even love. Seriously, it’s gonna be big…

Looks like twitter tools is fixed again, so you can pick out the posts from twitter if you like. Personally, I’d like you to subscribe. My blogging style is quite robust & heavy with imagery, formatting and even videos. Sometimes this doesn’t fit into the 140-character lifestyle. I’d rather you view TreoBenny 2009 when you’ve made the decision to set aside some time and consume some good content. See you soon!

Remodeled…

Yeah, things look a little different. Expect to see another change soon with the main color scheme, (which I’m not particularly crazy about.) However, until then I can take pride in the imagery work I did for the header. I’m quite pleased at how they fit together. I hope you enjoy as well.

1 Down, 8765456789 to Go :-/

Last night I finally got around to finishing up my socialmedia page. What’s that you ask? It’s basically just a page with various widgets from my networks. Many people add these same widgets to their blogs, but, I felt it deserved a page all its own:

The trend is to install WordPress in the root directory, such that ‘mydomain.com’ takes you to the blog. I don’t use this model, and in this type of example I think it benefits me…and my viewers. Modular information that you can selectively view, I like that. The home page is clean and straightforward, the traffic light of the site so to speak.

I have many more ideas for my site, and my blog specifically. I have a new theme in mind for 2009, which will require a little more work on my part to get up and running than any theme previously. But, to me, that’s the whole point :-)

TreoBenny 2009…

Exactly how I came to the seasonal structure I’m not sure. I guess my life in general is very seasonal. I play sports and work in education, both driven by seasons. Either way, it seems to work for me. I can find enough time to make color scheme changes every few months, even a small redesign of the logo itself. As you can see scrolling through this blog, I seem to only post about that often as well :-)

I’m in the market for a new handheld these days. In a perfect world that’s an unlocked Treo Pro, but we’ll see how that works out. I’m actually considering a BlackBerry. Will I then be known as BlackBerryBenny? No. TreoBenny is a brand and a metaphor for mobile connectivity. It’s not going anywhere. As far as what else is going on with me…well that remains to be seen as well. I’ll just say that for now, I’m trying to take things one day at a time…

Oh, btw, the new winter logo is below. Select it to check out the new homepage. :-)

Minor Design Improvements…

Last I mentioned sorting through different themes, I hadn’t committed to one in particular. After a little time in Dreamweaver & Photoshop however, I think this theme will be around for a while…at least until winter.

So far I’ve made a small color improvement that I think adds warmth, the original colors were more spring/fall, not very summer. Also, I’m almost done selecting my own pictures for the header. Only 2 of the theme-included pics remain, the rest were taken by me with one exception, and it was taken by a friend of mine.

One day soon I hope to have some design elements of the homepage, blog, and forums all present within each other. Oh, there will also be a birthday-inspired post soon…a timeline in imagery from the past year.

Soon as in before the Internet gets streamed straight to a chip in your head that is…LOL!

Mid-Summer Here I Come!

I’ve got a short break from school right now, perfect timing to get some projects around the house done – to get some design projects done – to get some development projects done right here at TreoBenny.com

The last couple weeks I’ve been trying to settle in on an orchestra of mobile-minded social networking tools. I started out with Twitter, but then realized the good stuff Twitter was doing could be taken further. I started looking around at other tools like Brightkite and Dodgeball. Of course, in the end Twitter will no doubt engulf all of them, (or whenever they team up with Google.) I forsee myself being settled in on my tools of choice in a week or so, at which time I’ll begin really crankin’ on my next design project. School will be back soon after that, but with only one class to worry about, I should still have time for lots of ‘playin’.

All my play will need to end by mid-Aug. when I go back to work full time. It would be great if I could secure a full-time job in design by then, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. But, in the meantime, it’s late June and life is good! Be prepared for an overload of updates as I get ready to go to my first NASCAR race in a couple weeks.

Whew!

I spent the majority of yesterday working towards the new looks here & on the homepage. I’m very pleased with how everything is looking right now, but of course, I still have work to do. The biggest change here are the new pages for ITZ and the Twitter badge. Of course, just as I was finishing up last night I discovered that there’s a WordPress plug-in for Twitter. I might get around to that tonight. You should definitely subscribe to the RSS feed, I’ve got several ways to post now so updates should be the most frequent since…well…ever :-)

Turning the Corner…

It’s been a while since I wrote a post, which in itself kept me from writing a post. I worried about how much time it would take to fill in all the details since my last post. Well…I decided to just throw something up to get the ball rolling. I’ll fill in details over the past few months as I go. I’ve decided to make a change to the social…eh…infrastructure as it pertains to TreoBenny.com. :-)

I’ll create a page specific to this blog, Twitter, and my other social networking endeavors. I used to hate that I didn’t have time to fill up my home page with lots of stuff, but now I kinda like the clean open look that minimal content gives. Check back soon for more updates!…no, for real this time :-)

New Look…

It’s 1:30am and I should be sleeping. If I’m not sleeping I should be doing schoolwork. Instead, I just had a breakthrough…

I downloaded a new template for this blog, (no, that’s not it.) I really like the layout, and the original header image is pretty cool. Very metropolitan:

header_1a

I think to myself, “as cool as this image is, I’d rather have my logo there.” I’m thinking all I have to do is log in as the Admin and select a different image. I was SOOO wrong. Turns out I had to edit the php script that tells the page where to find the image. Oh, I had to discover which script that was ;-) Once I did that, I found the images folder, then resized my logo so it would fit without distortion.

I’m very proud of myself…now I can go to bed…

If you have questions about anything I just said, leave me a comment and I’ll explain in more detail. Just not tonight :-)
